We spent many nights and days at the lake, Sheryl Crow playing in the background, either fishing or sipping on vino. When you are there in the moment, carefree, you never think your best friends are going to move off. Then they do. And they all seem to go to Florida. Well, Kristie and Daniel have relocated to San Antonio, so they are only 4 hours and one speeding ticket away. I never thought she would have a baby that I would not get to see everyday. So when I get those days now, I am very grateful, because she IS the cutest damn baby on Earth. I went to San Antonio this weekend to see Kristie, Daniel and Mackenzie. We had such fun. It was like old times, Cowboy games, wine, and Sheryl Crow. I miss them so much, my second family.
How about those Cowboys???!!! We were watching the game on delay, because we were shooting at the Pumpkin Patch and were running late. So Daniel tivoed the game and we were about 20 minutes behind. With 30 seconds left, the tivo cut off. Im NOT KIDDING. WE DIED!!!! But... HOW BOUT THOSE BOYS????? So what do die hard Cowboy fans who love a team, with all their players out, and a bleak season ahead, do after a near miss WIN???? They start planning the super bowl and pose for self portraits in different jerseys. Yes we did that.
Self timer all the way.... :)
I guess Kristie and I were practicing our engagement shot? haha We have been through a lot together.
Who needs a photographer? We can do it ourselves.
I am not sure why we are standing on the couch, but at the time, it was a GREAT idea.
Corrupting the young one, aka the cutest kid on Earth, early.
DOES IT GET BETTER THAN THIS? Eat your heart out broken pinki Romo.
I also did a few photos of Mackenzie at my great friend Lauras studio. She is so nice to let me use her place and we got to play and have fun.
This is one of Kristies favs.
Seriously, yall know this is my baby and I just let Kristie carry her, right? Daniel told me not to tell her, but I had to. I think I might have mentioned a turkey baster. hahahaha. Kristie is a wonderful mom and I couldn't be more happy for them. You will be seeing a lot more of them!
You ask and you shall receive... more Teton pics! We really spent more time shooting landscapes than wildlife. Here are some of my favorites. I was lucky to get to see some extra special places and views on the last day. Why is the last day always the best, then you don't want to leave?
Black-tail Ponds Overlook
Fall trees in a super secret special place.
Oxbow Bend again in the next two shots. We had to get up EAAAAAARLY to get here because there are a lot of photographers that show up for these classic shots. Im talking 5:00. I was sleep walking and Im pretty sure we left at 5:10 and I got up at 5:00. Had blender in tow, still on the program.
More fall trees.
Schwabacher Landing when the sun was first starting to come up and hit the mountain.
And after the sun rose and lit up the sky.
The Mormon Barn when the sun first came up.
And after it was higher in the sky and lit up the barn. The beautiful scenery was worth getting up early everyday, I would do it every day if I could. Well maybe I would take Sundays off. :)
Lola is... I can't believe it... Its hard to type... ONE!!!!!!! How did this happen? How did Lola turn One? She was just 3 months old yesterday! I refuse to accept that Misty's babies are growing up. Lets start the petition for her to have more. More chunky cute babies, PLEASE! We went to the arboretum to shoot.. you know the mommy and me day I referred to a few posts back. I recovered from the event and am not pregnant from exposure to so many mini vans.
Here is little Lola.
And big sister Lilli who has grow up before our eyes on the website. This was the shot where she actually stood still for a half of a second. Oh to be three and a free spirit. Happy Birthday Lola!!!!!
Happy Birthday to Ms. Lola Pinkwater-Pitt!!!! One of my bestest friends. We have bonded over dogs, shopping, dior nail polish, boots, shopping and shopping. She is on the JJ Virgin plan also, so we are miserable together. Who cares about misery if you are getting skinny! And we are twins, because she turned 29 today and I am 29. It's awesome having someone being 29 with you every year. I hope you had a GREAT BIRTHDAY!!!! Here she is with Brad on some red carpet. No wonder I never see her, she is so busy.
I knew Dawna would buy shoes for her birthday, so I bought some too! :) Last weekend I picked up these beauties. And let me tell you, I was NOT shopping for shoes. I had to walk through that department to get to the jeans. These shoes spoke to me, it was that ahaaaaa moment. Im sad to say as a photographer, these photos do not do these shoes justice. They are just WOW. Im having things installed in my studio, so I went cheapo on the background. :) Are they not rocking that cardboard box? IN LOVE. Ill be taking these to the wilderness. They have a wood grain pattern in PURPLE. Happy Birthday Dawna, I plan on buying shoes to celebrate your 29th every year. :)
I know some of you have been following Madison since I photographed her at 7 days old. Madison and Flash are quite famous here. She is growing up TOO FAST. I am not ready for her to be a toddler. Sarah brought her in for the 7 month session last week, and she was a HAM. We were laughing so hard at times, I couldn't hold the camera still. She has so many crazy expressions! Janice, who came to help, was laughing so hard trying to get Madison to laugh, that we were ALL LAUGHING and in tears. It was nutty.
How many dogs do you know that would do this? He is amazing. I think Flash had enough towards the end. I cant wait for the next session when she is really on the move. I have a feeling Madison is going to rule that household, Great Danes and all.
I have received a lot of emails and phone calls in regards to Tony Romo. I think a few people were worried about my mental health, with not only the loss but the FOUR GAME injured status. A pinky? Really?
I was concerned, so deeply concerned that instead of yelling profanity at Romo and the TV, I had to be proactive. I had to step up and help my team recover from this HUGE WE MAY NOT GO TO THE SUPERBOWL setback.
The man who used to be tough as nails, make no errors, ( OK, well maybe a few huge playoff ending errors, but who is counting?) is suddenly breaking under pressure and breaking pinky's. A PINKY? I blame this all on Jessica Simpson. She has weakened him.
For the sake of my favorite team, AMERICAS team, I have stepped in to get this boy back in shape for our Boys. He will return and he will man up and take care of business on the field. Ill let you all know of his progress.
Meet the adorable and very happy Jack. This was such a fun session, Jack is the perfect age of four months. I love this age because their personalities and smiles really start to come out, and they get so much better at holding their heads up. Jack was making us all laugh with his constant smiles. I know you have been stalking the blog waiting for these Stephanie, so here you go! Your boy is precious!
Today Stephanie came up to the arboretum while I was shooting Lolas 1 year session, which you will see soon. I bought one of these cloth organic diapers and wanted to try some outdoor shots. Unfortunately the clouds and light did not go our way and little Jack was getting hungry. I thought these two shots were cute. I ordered some darker more natural colored cloth diapers for these type of session, still waiting on them. I think for variety, I am going to start putting some of these cute naked babies outside!
Stephanie and Misty, it was great to see you both today. Lola is adorable and of course Lilli is just the little diva now. So very hollywood. I hope the rest of the day went well for you and you were not attacked by a mob of stroller pushing moms. I forgive you for inviting me to the arboretum on Mommy and Me day when school was out. :) It was a mad house, every stroller in Dallas HAD TO HAVE BEEN THERE!!!! I wont even discuss the minivans in the parking lot running each other over for a close spot. I knew minivans made you pregnant!!! :)
This is somewhat of a random post, with a couple of things I wanted to share. I was going to add more Teton photos, but will do that tomorrow. I also have photos of little Jack coming!!!!!
When I was in Anchorage a couple of months ago, we met some military boys at Sullivans steakhouse. They were having a grand time and the fun was contagious. We were surprised to hear they were going to Iraq and having a last hurrah. I found out a couple of them were Texas boys and had Texas tattoos, so I had to get a photo. We ended up buying their dinner and a round of drinks, which does not even come close to what they are doing for us right now. I thought we might get kicked out of Sullivans at one point, when they showed us they all went that day and got happy face tattoos on their butts. The manager turned a blind eye, knowing the situation. If I was being shipped off to Iraq, I would be drunk and rowdy too. Ok, I was drunk and rowdy anyway. I drank for our country!!! I am so thankful for what they are doing for our country and the risk they take on a daily basis. I am in contact with a couple of the guys and will be sending out a goodie basket to them, if anyone wants to contribute. Leave some love for these guys!
He has a cool tattoo, a film strip displaying different things in his life. The Dallas Skyline is the closest to my finger. Ignore my "Im too cool for school" look.
A good ol Texas Boy Tattoo!!!! And... the happy face... we had a lot of laughs over all their toasts.
Good luck guys! Stay safe and Thank you!
I have been listening to a lot of Alicia Keys, and this is one of the songs abusing my speakers many times over. I love singer-song writers... and I think this is a very powerful song. Kinda where my head is these days and tonight more than ever. Music keeps me sane and drives me crazy at the same time, but this song has helped me the last few days. I had a really crappy night, and this song just reinforces how I am feeling. You have to rise above your situation sometimes. I love this You tube, where she says its her mantra and the passion in which she sings it. Its nice when a simple song can turn your day around.
Here are the lyrics:
Life is cheap, bittersweet
But it taste good to me
Take my turn, crash and burn
That's how it's supposed to be
So dont rain on my parade
Lifes too short to waste one day
Im gonna risk it all, the freedom to fall
Yes it sure looks good to me
Time passed by and leaves you behind
Take it naturally
Heaven knows (OH) Theres so much more
More than what we see
So dont rain on my parade
Lifes too short to waste one day
Im gonna risk it all, the freedom to fall
Yes it sure looks good to me
(HEY) Sure looks good to me
Ooh, ooh, oooo, ooohh
Yea, yea, yeaaaa
Ooh, ooh, oooo, ooohh
Yea, yea, yeaaaa
Deep in my mind Im secure we can buy
I wanna see the light before I die or I lie in an empty space,
The darkness comes and Ive been telling my soul
And me and myself we turn around, were getting old,
But the lightning crashing, foolish emotions
From the bruises and the beauty in this moment that were feeling,
And I feel like Im seeing the world inside of me
But I can tell you that I know, it's getting easier to breathe,
Theres a cold in the morning, endless equation
Of whove we've become, its a complex situation
So live, love, life give love
Live, love, life, give love
Live, love, life, give love
It's who are we anyway
So dont rain on my parade
Lifes too short to waste one day
Im gonna risk it all, the freedom to fall
Yes it sure looks good to me
(HEY) It sure looks good to me
(Im telling you) Sure looks good to me
(YEA) Sure looks good to meeee
Meee, yeaaa
Looks good to me, whoo, yea, yea, yeaaa
On a lighter note, I was tagged not once, but twice, by my good friends Laura and Matt. I don't normally do these things, Im the person who stops chain letters and deletes emails telling me to pass it on or I will meet an evil outcome. But what are friends for, I can play. :)
These are the rules;
1. Link to the person who tagged you Matt, Laura 2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write six random thoughts about yourself
4. Tag six or so people at the end of your post
5. Let each person know he or she has been tagged
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted
Random Thoughts About Me:
1. I own the entire DVD collection of Hee Haw
2. I hate English Peas and it bothers me when other people eat them. (DAWNA)
