And the Photo of the Day Begins... Before the Year Ends....

For Laura... taken with the Leica.

This photo is not of anything dramatic, but I am in Hawaii and it has been fairly overcast since we arrived. The sun peeks out occasionally and the temperature has been rather nice. Even on a cloudy, blah day, it's still Hawaii and when you look out and see palm trees in the wind it makes you stop. I am not sure I have "relaxed" yet.. but getting there. This particular holiday season seemed more stressed and rushed than others. I am glad I am here. Something about Hawaii... you can be so far from home... yet so close. An Emmylou Harris concert on TV tonight as you hear the waves crashing outside. Ahhhhh paradise.

updates
 Hot Air      Sunday, 12/23/07

The below was from 12/12
I thought I would make an update post. Last time I updated I never mentioned "the hole" and a couple of people asked me about it. Its healing up great and looks like the infection is not returning. I don't have to pack it anymore, so it should start closing up. YAY!

I have been busy with Christmas orders and cards. I am also working on a calendar for Havanese. All profits will go to HRI, the rescue organization which helps Havanese in shelters and those abandons get medical help and find permanent homes. When I am done with the Calendar I will post it here along with the link where you can purchase it. Its for such a good cause!

I wrote the two above paragraphs and never finished, so now two weeks later, I am updating.
Staph infection number one, mentioned above, steal healing and almost gone. Staph infection number two, I got about a week or so ago, I started taking meds the minute I noticed it and it went away on its own. YAHOO!

The past month has been INSANE busy. I have fulfilled a ton of orders, had a girls weekend at my house, Bev and I hosted a Polar Bear fundraiser Cocktail Party and I managed to finish the Havanese Calendar.

The beginning of the month I posted that I went to the Billy Joel concert with the "other Melissa". I have a lot of friends named Melissa.. but she is my longest running friend.

Here are some pics. Billy Joel was great. I am so impressed with the entire Victory Park area. My BRIGHT Idea.. meet at the W, have dinner and walk over. Brilliant! Everyone else in Dallas thought so too, thats why they actually made reservations. We walked around and finally found a sushi place that had a bar table where we could order. The entire area is festive and crowded and FUN! My advice.. make reservations and take a Taxi early with plans for him to pick you up. You can hang out and eat, attend a concert, drink and not drive home.

Billy Joel had no one open for him. The concert started at 8 and he went on AT 8. He jammed at his piano for over two hours, I don't recall one break. The place was PACKED! He was fun and energetic and a true artist.

I will post more about the other events later tonight. I want to put up a link to the Havanese Calendar. Getting ready for the annual trip to Hawaii and then off to AFRICA!!!!!

smells like Victory
 Dear Tony Romo      Friday, 12/7/07

Dear Tony Romo,

I am looking forward to the game on Sunday. As you know I have not washed my jersey during this record breaking season. ( Does Jessica Simpson have a Romo jersey that she has worn every game? Maybe she has not washed it ONCE and maybe she goes to Starbucks at the same time every game day and gets the perfect drink, a Skinny Raspberry Mocha. Maybe she wears the exact same color panties and is certain every small detail is perfect to continue this winning season??? I think not. I'm just sayin.)

However, seeing how being with me is difficult with your football and my traveling, I did expect you to have wandering eyes. And if you HAVE to be with someone else, I do like her. But lets stay focused on FOOTBALL. Don't loose sight of the ultimate goal and keep flashing those dimples. Much love TR!

blessing the outdoors
 Crazy Dog Lady      Thursday, 12/6/07

I had to update from my post last night. This morning, BOTH dogs used the doggie door TWO TIMES! Treats were flying around like confetti. Maybe by blogging about a yellow Christmas, the negativity was released and the dogs were sent a spiritual message to bless the grass. Yea.....whatever.

Speaking of spiritual messages.... and blessing the grass.... I mentioned my favorite designer on Project Runway was the organic one. Her name is Elisa Jimenez and guess what... she is from Texas! She says the wackiest things, which is why I love her. I would even wear her designs. The first dress that was shunned a tad because of the long train, was very Cavalli to me. And who doesn't need hired help to carry the back of your dress around? She is one of these very earthy, spiritual people that really believes what she says. Her parents were both artists and you can tell she is in her own world. Good for her! ( OH MY... the look on Heidi Klums face when she revealed she spits on the fabric to mark it!!! Great TV!)

While searching for some of her wacky quotes to share, I found this on the Project Runway Blog

You use yourself for the dress model, you stain the fabric with natural grass. Have you always worked in this unconventional style?
I have always worked either directly on myself, the client, or a marionette to make the pieces that I construct. I often use natural dyes and unconventional methods of detailing, dyeing, and making. These are my assets. That I am willing to simply expore has always been a creative edge and joy for me with prosperous results. The grass staining was with the knowledge that I wanted to bring the smell and blessing of outdoors into the indoors, perhaps even on the body.

THATS WHAT STOGIE IS DOING!!! He is just bringing the smell and blessing of outdoors into the indoors! I just want him to go stain the grass and not my Christmas tree. I have a spiritual dog!

Here is an Elisa YouTube... from a fashion show she did in NY. A lot of the designers are real working designers in life. ( not like say... Top Model... where they are working at Kroger one day and sitting next to Nigel Barker ( yummy!) the next. )

This girl has to win! Anyone who can pull off a fashion show like this in NYC, must achieve spiritual and Project Runway victory!

Project Christmas Tree
 Crazy Dog Lady      Wednesday, 12/5/07

I am the best doggie mama ever! Stogie has been better about going out, but he still prefers to do his business in the dining room. The room we can't see into. It's as if he actually goes outside, he wont be able to get back in and the world will end. But I have been shoving him out the doggie door when I find accidents... which is horrible. Because outside the doggie door is GRASS. YES, GRASS! That evil, evil green stuff. He will go outside and potty on the flagstone deck, no problem. He will even whiz on the lawn furniture. But grass... oh the torture... so when I shove him out the doggie door, it gets his attention and he has been better.

Then, I put up not ONE... but TWO Christmas trees. Stogie says... COOL she brought the trees INSIDE! Now, I can pee and not leave the room, I have a tree and don't even have to touch the EVIL grass! WOOHOO! If only I would bring the garage trash can inside, he would truly be in heaven.

Goldie is great, she goes outside all the time. We leave the door open with the nice weather, and she lays half outside and half inside. She even uses the doggie door. Close to perfection... yes.... if she would only quit eating the decorations off the trees. She thinks the berries are real. They LOOK like berries...hmmmmm

Yesterday I dumped out her favorite Sack bed and out came all kinds of goodies. Decor, toys, and a WOODEN SAKE CUP! WTP?????

On another note, My Christmas trees ROCK. I am now addicted to Project Runway. While putting in Christmas orders non-stop, I watched the marathon on Bravo. I couldn't wait for tonight's new episode. I like that organic girl. You know the one who is in touch with the earth and spits on her clothes to become one, she is awesome. Love her.

If my Christmas trees were on Project Christmas Tree, I would be SO in. You can not tell from these photos, but my trees are awesome. I love Christmas. And yes, I did step in pee while taking these photos. Sorry for the subpar quality, using the point and shoot. Still have three cameras in the shop. One is back and waiting to be picked up, and the other is in the mail. Finally! When the Leica gets here... I will start the daily photo category. It's listed, it is just empty! It was created for this camera so I am waiting to get my hands on the new healthy Leica and post more photos!

I went to the Billy Joel concert... so stay tuned for that post tomorrow. My goal for December was to post everyday. I only missed the first 5 days.. I will make up for it!

This tree still needs some final touches.

The purple one...
