Letha
 Hot Air      Wednesday, 7/30/08

I love Project Runway! I was thrilled the new season is here so we can hear Tim Gunn "OHHHHHHHHHHH" and Heidi insult the designers in her sweet german voice. Nina Garcia is the best, because she doesn't even have to speak. The look on her face when one of the outrageous peices of junk presents itself on the runway, if only looks could kill. The fabric would shrivel and disappear on the spot.

Every season has the outrageous, put on the show for pure entertainment, contestant. Last year it was Elisa and this year it is Stella. Stella LOVES LETHA. She sleeps on a leather bed I think. This clip sums it up. The week before she completed an assignment using grocery store materials by making a trash bag dress. TRASH BAGS! It was hideous, but it was the closest she could get to LETHA!

UPDATE: AOL Pulled the video, if I find another, Ill post it here. It was great!
I don't watch it on Wed night, so Ill update on tonights episode later. TIVO BABY!

The trash bag dress:

I love this girl!!! She must stay for a while to entertain us more. Lets see some leather couture. I have yet to decide who my favorite designer is based on their skills and not on camera personality. Suede might drive me to Betty Ford sooner if he keeps speaking in the third person. I love this show!

 Fabulous Finds      Tuesday, 7/29/08

I MUST HAVE THESE
sleek and stunning Pucci boots at Net a Porter, which I have a credit at. Tell me, a must have or an expensive boot which I will grow tired of? Look at the soles!!! Who would grow tired of those?! And the green! Somebody stop me.

I DO HAVE THESE
TheFit Flop. Supposed to help your fitness while looking stylish in a gladiator sandal. I wanted to wear gladiator sandals, not BE A GLADIATOR! These things are just huge and I went down a size. I do love the idea, and they are growing on me, but I am debating returning them for a size smaller. The bottoms are just so bulky.

Powerful feet! I could conquer Rome! At least the shopping in Rome, all while firming the calves. I knew shopping and being healthy were related. Here is the proof!

Another view of the side. Do they look too big?

You only see my one foot because of this little hot tub incident. My toe on my left foot is out of commission. The nail is broke so low, I am scared to remove the band aid. I did briefly remove it to apply my nail glue substitute, eyelash glue. It seemed like a good idea at the time, being out of nail glue. I don't know if it worked, I covered it quickly and live in a state of denial. Just the thought of eyelash glue on my toenail gives me visions of hairy toenails and sprouts of furry things emerging from the bandaid. I have issues.

So you may be asking what was the hot tub incident in which the assault of said toenail took place. I will make it brief. Drinking a bottle of wine in a hot tub set at 104, in July, In Texas: NOT A GOOD IDEA. You may think its common sense to not put your hot tub at 104, but when its 100 outside, we had to make it a HOT TUB. The heat did not damage my toenail, but it must have had some impact on how that wine reacted in my system. Because I dont remember how I broke my toenail from the hot tub on the way to rid myself of the wine in the bathroom.

Luckily I can still put on my tennis shoes. This is a good thing, because I am in a contest with my friend Delle, ( Tom's nephews girlfriend.) to see who can lose the most weight by December. She was my partner in crime in the hot tub incident when they were visiting from Alabama. I do recall her yelling, "it's not hot at ALL!" as I was turning up the temperature. Me replying, " It wont go past 104!", not ever thinking maybe it was for reasons of SAFETY!

Back to the contest... we are competing hard core, and her boyfriend, John, gets to dress the loser for the New Years Eve Party. This could be catastrophic. I find this so scary that I have given up alcohol during the week. Thats right, no more nightly vino. Last time I felt I was drinking too much wine, I stopped, but I replaced it with martinis. If I can't go 5 days without a happy hour, I need to go to Betty Ford.

I am so competitive, I think this is a perfect way to lose those extra calories I was piling on everynight. Its been TWO DAYS! TWO ENTIRE DAYS AND NIGHTS WITHOUT WINE! Take that Betty Ford, I am a GLADIATOR!

Kate
 Portraits      Thursday, 7/24/08

Those who know me can only imagine the thrill I had when I saw this outfit for little Kate. This is a family after my heart. Kate, our little Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, is now 9 months old. She was crawling and had places to be, but at times we were able to entertain her long enough for some photos. Like a cheerleader, she worked the crowd! Notice her toenails! Perfection in pink... it ALMOST makes me want to have a cute little girl to put in Cowboy outfits and paint her toenails. ALMOST.

I love her near bald head, just like her brother Jack.

A girly girl in her pink tutu.

Of course we had Romo in the house! Who do you think Kate was cheering on?! Actually, its her brother, Jack, who many of you have seen before as a baby. He is the future Romo! I see athletes in this family's future.

I had a great birthday in Hawaii. I am still here, have another day to go. This was the view from breakfast when we got here. Started the day with Oatmeal and fresh Papaya. So good!

And the View from dinner. Even better!!!!

Went surfing with Roy one day. The waves in the summer are bigger on the south side of the island. I am not sure its like this the entire summer, but this week it has been pretty good. I was getting pounded, I am not sure I have ever paddled so much. You would get close then a set of waves would hit and knock you back to where you started. It was still a blast and I got up every time.

After surfing, we drove out to Kailua. The beach here is gorgeous, beautiful water and sand. We swam for a while here before we headed to Waimanalo. Tasted some Haupia, which is a coconut pudding. The minute I discovered the heavenly taste, I knew my hips were expanding with every bite. So Worth It! Yesterday we went for Sushi and later I attempted to go to the apple store for the new Iphone. I can't tell you how crazy the Apple store in Ala Moana is. PACKED! Of course no phones, I would be better off ordering one online.

Basically I have been swimming and eating. I could live like this forever.

View of Diamond Head yesterday from the catamaran ride. Last time we were here it was so green. You can tell the rain has not been generous since. I have not done too much video but I still have time. Turning 29 should be this great every year! More to come!

Dog Show Virgins
 Crazy Dog Lady      Wednesday, 7/16/08

Stogie has been showing with Lois, his handler and my Africa traveling partner, this summer. He has been doing quite well considering the amount of entries of other specials entered. On Sunday I was in San Antonio to pick him up and also watch him show. My friends Laura and Shelby came out to see the entire dog show world first hand. I have very smart friends, they picked up on the ways of the dog show community in a very short time.

"A lot of lesbians walking dogs were checking me out."

"They look so pretty all groomed, so regal, it makes me want one. "

" It smells like poop"

"Thats it? Thats all they do? The judge picked that dog and didn't even look at them anymore?"

"There is a mixture of people here, those who seem dressed nice with money and those who are missing teeth"

" She worked her ass off, I saw her show several dogs in different rings in the short time I was standing here. "

"I love I can say Bitch here. The word is thrown around freely. My Bitch did this, my bitch did that. Bitch Bitch Bitch."

"The judge picked a PUPPY BITCH?! For crying Shame! Can I say Bitch again?"

"Its just like Best in Show, the movie."

These quotes, while not word for word, ( some are) represent everything I heard them say. I felt their observations summed up the dog show world. Its a bitch!

Laura, the queen of low light photography and using her flash took some photos of Stogie in the ring. I actually had to call her ( from across the building, I can't get close to the ring when he is showing. Stogie loves his mama!) and tell her to be careful with the flash. According to Lois, there have been times when showing, he sees a camera and flash and turns around to start posing. I have the boy trained! He associates a camera with treats! He also knows his mama may be behind that camera. Combine that with the treats, and he has no interest in impressing the judge.

Laura was super careful not to throw Stogie off his game and took these wonderful photos. Thanks Laura!!! I also posted these on the dogs new Blog Site. You can check out the dogs website here, it just went live and is different from the site I was temporarily using.Havanista Havanese

Stogie did not win on Sunday, the Bitch did! :)

God Bless America, Iphones and Barbara Walters
 Hot Air      Saturday, 7/12/08

I STILL do NOT have an IPHONE!!!!!!
SOLD OUT! One day I went to Northpark and the line was almost to Neimans. For those non Dallasites, it was LONG! So I drove to Knox where people were lined up around the corner with umbrellas. I took a pic of the Iphone line with my old Iphone. I wasn't waiting in 100 degree weather to upgrade my phone.

I had a great fourth of July. Went to my moms and hung with the family. I made a video. I love VImeo and have used up all my weekly allowance. I am going to start doing a lot more video. FYI: NO Britney in this video!

Fourth of July from Melissa Miller on Vimeo.

Tomorrow I leave for Hawaii. My birthday is this week and every year for my 29th birthday we go to Hawaii. :)
I will be video blogging! I know I always say that, but I WILL! I am reading the Barbara Walters book, Audition, which I LOVE! It has inspired me to interview people. I will be reading that book the entire flight and interviewing people in Hawaii. It's MY Birthday and if I want to have Barbara Walters week in Hawaii, I will do it! I have said this before, but I will say it again: I love Barbara Walters. I started watching her when I was just a youngster, around 11 or 12. So just a few years ago.. you know, before I was 29. She would do specials on location Romanian orphanages. It was horrendous, eye opening and heart breaking. Babies that were never picked up who laid in their cribs getting bed sores due to understaffed orphanages. I knew then I would adopt if I ever wanted children. I still believe that today. An afternoon trip to Walmart often dismissed any thought I had of children. Wanting to kill innocent screaming children that you do not know is not a good sign. I always gave myself until I was around 33 to decide what I wanted to do and IF I WERE turning 33 this year, it would be a big decision. My choice of countries would be China. They can only have one child and often do not keep the girls, because a son can make money and support the family.

I have done all of the prep work. The important steps before parenthood, getting dogs and plants, all of which are still alive. I think I might put it off one year and volunteer with Big Brothers and Sisters, then see how I feel. I wouldn't mind a little rugrat running around, but I have to weigh the Pros and Cons.

Pro: Unconditional Love and all the mushy stuff.
Con: No more traveling the world at a moments notice.

Pro: Someone to eat turkey with on Thanksgiving when I'm old.
Con: GETTING UP EARLY

Pro: Someone else to unload the dishwasher.
Con: GETTING UP EARLY.

This isn't looking so good, Ill have to sleep on it for a few more years... you know, until I turn 33.

Catching Up
 Travel      Tuesday, 7/8/08

I know I have been MIA. It has been an extremely long week with both personal things and work things going on. A lot of ups and downs the last week. I do have stuff to blog about.. just been very tired at night and not in a chatty mode. Enough of that! Im going to be posting the rest of the week.

I watched Nightline tonight and a show about child slaves in Haiti. You know these things happen. You read and hear about it, but to see the actual faces of the children on this special was traumatizing. The selling of children to random strangers. Ten year olds working for families non stop. They have no friends, no life, no love at all. It's disgusting these things go on in our world. You should go read about it, the reporter, Dan Harris, did a superb job of detailing what is going on there. I bet it was difficult to see it first hand. Check it out here: Nightline

I have a couple of Miami things to post. The video has loud obnoxious Britney Spears music, so be warned before you press play. The background noise and shrieking crowd was more obnoxious than Brit, so be happy. These are the songs I work out too. Here is a shot of South Beach I took from Melissa's place. I should have used the tripod for this shot on the below video. Hope its not too Blair Witch for you. ( That movie freaked me out, let it be known, I thought it was real. ) If you are on dial up, good luck! :) You can have cable installed before this loads.

Here is the video:

Tomorrow I have portraits to post, Fourth of July photos, and video of little MacKenzie!!!!
